June 27 - Glacier National Park and onto Butte, MT

On Friday morning, we let ourselves sleep in to get some extra rest. We got on the road around 9:30am. The rest of the drive was lovely.

We made it to Glacier National Park, where we set to camp for 2 nights. Our campground was near Lake McDonald, a beautiful glacier lake.

We learned when we got to the park that we would need a timed ticket to get onto the Going-to-the-Sun Road if we wanted to drive it between 7am and 3pm the next day. This is something that I had overlooked in our thorough planning. Luckily, they released more tickets at 7pm each night for the next day. Since there was no connectivity at our campground, we had to walk to the visitor's center to connect to their WiFi to try to get the ticket we needed. We ended up getting the ticket slot we wanted (start time at 7am to 8am), but only after getting kicked off the site due to high traffic. It was nerve-racking!

Once we were armed with that ticket, we returned to our campsite and built a fire. We enjoyed that for a couple of hours and then turned in - hoping that the bears wouldn't get me when I got up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. I am happy to report that I am still here!
